PLAKA GROUP

The PLAKA GROUP started in 1961 with the family business Plakabeton, producing and selling building site accessories that are used in reinforced concrete constructions and brickwork. Today there are many local operating PLAKA companies all over Europe.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

With the production of the Stabox casing and the Couplerbox coupling box, the company rapidly developed and orientated itself towards the production and direct sale of its product ranges like:

  • Angle irons and Korbo brackets for brickwork support.
  • Stonefix fixings for facing bricks.
  • Titan dowels for dilatation joints.
  • Isotec reinforcement elements for cantilevered concrete elements for the avoidance of thermal bridges.
  • Special formwork Plakatube, Reltec.
  • Pecafil formwork for foundations.
  • Waterproof products, such as PVC or rubber joints, hydro-expansive Colmarub joints, Colmatec injection tubes,...

The PLAKA GROUP's head office, currently situated in Ternat, Belgium, employs more than 110 people in its various manufacture units and around 65 employees who ensure technical and commercial support to contractors, architects and engineers.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The PLAKA GROUP in Europe

After the start in Belgium, it was a logical step to head south for France with the expansion. After all, French is the mother tongue of Plakabeton. After the foundation of the establishments in Lille and Paris, the company expanded its territory in France with establishments in Lyon, Rouen, Toulouse, Metz and Nantes. In addition, Plakabeton Spain was created about 10 years ago. The first establishment was set up in Barcelona and others followed in Madrid, Bilbao, Sevilla, Alicante and Santiago. Furthermore the PLAKA GROUP has dealers and sales-offices in Germany, Luxembourg, Israel, Greece, The Netherlands and Ireland. Contacts in this field have also been established with Norway, The United Kingdom, Switzerland and Poland.

 

 

Historical development of the PLAKA GROUP

  • 1961 : Plakabeton is founded in Belgium by Claude Meyers.
  • 1975 : The number of employees increases to 8 persons. The main activity is selling Doka formwork and accessories for formwork (spacers).
  • 1977 : The first establishments are set up in France (Lille and Paris). In the ‘80s-‘90s, other establishments are being set up in Rouen, Lyon, Toulouse and most recently in Nice and Nantes.
  • 1982 : When leasing formwork is launched in Belgium, a production shift is made to an own accessories and steel production for the building trade. Coffrabeton is created (where the Stabox is being produced).
  • 1985 : Plakabeton quits the production of Doka and now completely
    concentrates on its own accessories production for the business of reinforced concrete.
  • 1990 : The establishment of the Coffratec production company in the south of France (Toulouse).
  • 1996 : The first establishment of Plakabeton Spain is founded in Barcelona. The following years, offices will be set up in Madrid, Bilbao, Sevilla, Alicante and Santiago.
  • 2000 : New offices are being built for the Belgian employees.
  • 2005 : the number of workers and employees has increased to ca 175 in Belgium and ca 310 on a European level.
  • 2011 : Plakabeton companies all over Europe rebrand the company name Plakabeton to PLAKA BELGIUM, PLAKA FRANCE, PLAKA SPAIN, etc. The PLAKA GROUP deliver nowadays building site solutions all over Europe.
